His Eminence Dungse Garab Rinpoche was born in Brekha, eastern Bhutan. He is a son of the famous Dungse Thinley Norbu Rinpoche and grandson of the great Dudjom Rinpoche Jigdral Yeshe Dorje, the second incarnation of Dudjom Lingpa. His maternal grandfather is the great Drukpa Kagyu master Sonam Sangpo Rinpoche, one of the main disciples of Sakya Shri.
Rinpoche’s heavenly blood lineage goes back to the Tibetan king Trisong Deutsen who was the manifestation of Manjushri. As holder of both the Dudjom blood and Dharma lineages, his root gurus are his grandfather Dudjom Rinpoche (the Second) and his father Thinley Norbu Rinpoche. Rinpoche studied under H.H. Penor Rinpoche and H.H. Minling Trichen Rinpoche in India.

Rinpoche has made the immense commitment to spread the teachings of the Buddha- the Vajrayana of the Secret Mantra, and specifically the rare and precious lineage of Dudjom New Treasure.

The responsibilities that lie on Rinpoche’s shoulders encompass countless matters: taking care of Rangjung monastery, yogis’ temples, shedras, retreat centers, monks and nuns, young lamas and anis- their education, upbringing etc. Rinpoche annually conducts a Vajrakilaya grand puja and Throma Nagmo grand puja and a variety of empowerments.
